Music and Arts
Singing anthems by composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Dan Forrest, Craig Courtney, John Leavitt, Pablo Sosa, and John Rutter, the choir leads the congregation in worship at the11:05 a.m. worship service. The Chancel Choir has also presented masterworks like Johannes Brahms’ German Requiem, Mark Hayes’ Magnificat, and Joseph Martin’s The Winter Rose. This ensemble gathers for rehearsal under the direction of Justin Langham on Wednesday evenings at 7:00p.m. in the music suite. Childcare is available. All are welcome to join and sing!
This adult bell choir offers music during worship services on a regular basis. Playing five octaves of bells, the choir rehearses in the bell rehearsal room in the music suite under the direction of David Doerr. The group is open to those able to read music, or those that are willing to learn!
Offering hymns, praise songs, and the latest Christian music, the Open Skies Band (OSBand) leads worship at 9:00 AM for Open Skies, a creative worship experience in the Fellowship Hall. Musicians of all ages volunteer to sing and play on a rotation basis and provide up-front leadership in worship each week. They are led and auditioned by Kemble Witt.
The Missouri City Chamber Singers are a new community ensemble based at First UMC Missouri City that perform a variety of advanced choral repertoire, such as anthems, a cappella works, and other choral masterworks and perform in various capacities around the Fort Bend County and beyond. The group is led by Justin Langham and accompanied by Dr. Andreea Mut, for the Houston Chamber Choir and the world-champion University of Houston Concert Chorale.
MCCS is an auditioned ensemble made up of 12 to 16-members that meets in the spring and fall seasons for 8 rehearsals and a concert. Rehearsals are Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:30pm starting in October in the fall and March in the spring.

Whether playing an instrument, singing a solo, participating in a small ensemble, creating a dance, or preparing art in worship, all persons are encouraged to offer their talents to God in worship. Displaying the talents of our congregation and beyond, the church art gallery offers churchgoers the opportunity to see God in the visual arts. The Art Gallery is led and directed by church members and rotated on a seasonal basis.
Careful thought is given each Sunday to the audio and visual needs for worship. Two of our worship spaces have screens and sound systems boards that are used to enhance the worship experience. If you have any experience in film, operating a camera, creating videos, content for worship, or stream live worship, the Digital Ministry Team would love for you to join.
