Monday Musical Moment: Christmas Music!

Justin Langham   -
Now that the turkey leftovers are being consumed, we have entered a special time of year that many look forward to. The streets are filled with festive colored lights and decorations, families, friends, and coworkers gather for fun holiday parties, and inevitably every house, mall, grocery store, and church is filled with various holiday music.
No matter who you are, everyone has an emotional connection to Christmas music. Maybe hearing a classic like “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” brings memories of caroling around a neighborhood. Maybe listening to a classic like “White Christmas” reminds you of family gatherings growing up. Or maybe nothing feels more like Christmas than singing “Silent Night” surrounded by candlelight on Christmas Eve.
This weekend at First UMC Missouri City, there are multiple opportunities to hear some of your favorite holiday music! On Friday night at 7:00pm in the chapel, the Missouri City Chamber Singers will present their inaugural performance “Concert of Carols” with a variety of Christmas carols, and on Sunday evening at 6:00pm, the FUMCMC music program will be on full display in “Christmas on the Corner,” a musical smorgasbord of holiday favorites with plenty of chances to sing along! I hope that you will consider attending one or both events to kick off the season of holiday music.
For this week, I would like to share with you a beautiful arrangement of one of my favorite Christmas songs, and if you would like to see it performed live, it will be on the program Friday night!
Happy holidays everyone!
