Wednesday Mornings at 9:30 AM – Music A & B
Contact: Sue Morse (emorsejr@comcast.net)
For the past 18 years Seekers Bible Class has been meeting at 9:30 am on Wednesday mornings in Music A & B. The class has done a variety of studies from such noted authors as Beth Moore, Philip Yancey, Anne Graham Lotz, and Max Lucado. They have also traveled as a group to Israel with Ray Vander Laan. Even though this class has been together for a long time, they love interacting with new people on their spiritual journey and study. You are invited to give them a try!

DISCIPLESHIP IN CHALLENGING TIMES – Richard Burnham, Leader
There is great value in hearing voices of the faithful who have endured challenging times. Certainly, the period leading to, and including, World War II is aptly characterized as challenging times. This fall we will use resources of two great voices from that period . . . Simon Wiesenthal and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
Wiesenthal’s book, The Sunflower, On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness will launch this season of study together. This book captures your imagination with his life story of an incident while interned in a concentration camp in Poland. He is asked for forgiveness by a Nazi SS officer. He concludes the story with the question; What would you have done? This is a vital question for anyone living in challenging times, or, for that matter, in any time.
Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, scholar, theologian and a Hitler resister. His writings are always read with his execution at the hands of Nazi leadership as a background. We will study together portions of three of Bonhoeffer books; Life Together, The Cost of Discipleship, and Letter and Papers From Prison. Whether this is your first encounter with Bonhoeffer, or a continuation of a long interest in his works, this study will give voice to one who understood discipleship in challenging times.
While each weekly session will build on the overall experience, each week will also have a stand-alone quality to it. Anyone is welcome to pick and choose their points of participation.

THE JESUS CREED: Loving God, Loving Others – Rev. Barbara Robberson, Leader
Spiritual formation? What does Jesus say about spiritual formation? What, according to Jesus, does a spiritually formed person look like? Did Jesus ever express his view of spiritual formation? Yes, he does so by transforming a creed – the Shema of his Jewish tradition. We call it the Jesus Creed. Everything about spiritual formation is shaped by his version of the Shema. For Jesus love of God and of others is the core. LOVE is the core! In the six weeks of digging deeper into The Jesus Creed by Scot McKnight we will explore how Jesus guided his disciples then and now into that deeper walk with God and with others. A young Jewish scholar once came to Jesus to ask him what was the most important thing for spiritual formation. This study is an invitation to explore Jesus’ answer and to be shaped and transformed by living the answer in our own lives daily.
