Born in New Mexico and raised in New York and Florida, Marty is not your typical, born-in-the-Bible-belt United Methodist pastor. Known for his energetic teaching style of preaching, churches under his leadership have seen amazing increases in membership growth and financial stability. He arrived at FUMC in December of 2013.
As a transplanted Floridian, he graduated Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Political Science and Communications. After receiving his Master of Divinity at the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, he served in several churches in the Texas Conference: Associate Pastor at A & M UMC in College Station, and Senior Pastor at Bullard UMC, Van UMC, Wesley UMC in Beaumont, Chapelwood UMC in Lake Jackson and Parkway United Methodist Church in Sugar Land.
When Marty has down time, he shares it with his wife and best friend, Jill and sons Connor and Zachary. Their down time often includes riding along the beaches with the top down on their Jeep and listening to Jimmy Buffett. And, Marty loves to talk about his beloved New York Mets.
