Justin is a musician, composer, conductor, and teacher based in the Montrose area, who first moved to Houston in 2013 from his home state of Alabama. Originally from Mobile, he earned a double Bachelor of Music from the University of Alabama in 2013, followed by his Master of Music degree from the University of Houston where he is currently finishing requirements for his Doctor of Musical Arts degree. As a performer, Justin maintains an active schedule around the U.S. and abroad, most often as a member of the renown trumpet and organ duo, Deux Voix (“two voices”). He is also an award-winning composer and arranger with music performed around the U.S. and in countries such as Italy, Japan, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. An avid teacher, Justin maintains a private teaching studio and has been on faculty at Lone Star College Montgomery since 2015 teaching high brass, music theory, and aural skills. Aside from his musical activities, Justin is a lover of sports, travel, and food, especially Mexican food!
At FUMCMC, Justin selects music for the traditional service, plans concerts and other musical activities, and conducts the chancel choir and other musical groups in performances on Sunday mornings and other special events. He also serves on the planning team for the Texas Annual Conference Worship Team. Above all, Justin is most passionate about sharing music with people in any way he can and is thrilled to be a part of the amazing team at First UMC Missouri City!
