FUMCMC will offer a grief support group focused on examining grief processes and strategies for regaining a sense of hope and wholeness. Discovering Grace in Grief will meet on Thursday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 in room 251 beginning Thursday, November 8 and concluding Thursday, December 20. Martha Hanson and Debbie Hartgraves will lead the group.
The poet, W.S. Merwin wrote “Your absence goes through me like a thread through a needle. Everything I do is stitched with its color.” His words provide a powerful image for what it is like to grieve, and they capture the ongoing hurt we feel when someone we love dies. Finding a way to reinvest in life after the presence of a loved one is no longer available is excruciatingly painful, and the holidays only seem to add to our sense of loss. During such difficult times, the journey that each of us must take is unique, but there are ways to channel grief and navigate its lonely time and space.
