Leslie Logan passed away on December 31, 2018. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Resurrection on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM.
Leslie Logan was born in Honolulu, HI, to Paul and Ethyl Van Gilder, joining older brothers, Mark “Steven” and Paul “Michael.” The family soon relocated to Prince George’s County, Maryland, where Leslie grew up and attended Potomac Mills High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Southwest Louisiana to live with her dad and step-mom, Bessie,, and pursue an education in Nursing at McNeese State University. While pursuing her studies, Leslie started a family and became a stay at home mom. Although her marriage was not successful, Leslie was determined to be successful in raising and supporting her young children, Ashley and Benjamin, and once again relocating to Prince George’s County. After her mother passed away in 2005, Leslie relocated one last time to Houston, Texas. Once here, she excelled in career at JP Morgan Chase as a Business Online Technical Support specialist and began attending FUMC-MC in 2013. Leslie’s family grew in 2012 when she became a grandmother to a fiery red-head named Rowen. Despite the long and difficult battle with cancer that she fought, Leslie tried hard to never let others see the disease get her down and she will always be our cancer warrior.
Leslie is survived by daughter, Ashley Johns, husband, Eric, and grandson Rowen, of Lake Charles; son, Benjamin, and wife Becci, of Orange; father Paul Van Gilder, and wife, Bessie, of Missouri City; brothers Mark “Steve” Van Gilder, and wife Cathy, of Cleveland, and Paul “Mike” Van Gilder of Houston, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones spread all over. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ethyl Van Gilder, of Bowie, MD, and sister-in-law, Karin Van Gilder of Cleveland, Tx.
