About the Day School/CONTACT US

The Methodist Day School operates August through May. Our classes are open to any child regardless of race or religious beliefs, provided the school can meet the needs of the child. We serve children ages 6 months through 5 years.  The Methodist Day School meets and exceeds all licensing standards of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. In addition, it is operated under the guidelines of the Missouri City Health and Fire Departments.

Our Goal

The primary goal in working with the school’s infant to pre-kindergarten children is to help them develop a positive self- esteem and a sense of security while learning about the world around them. This is achieved by providing developmentally appropriate activities planned by loving, dedicated teachers in a happy, Christian environment.

Enrollment Requirements

Enrollment will be open to any child provided the Day School can meet the needs of that child.  Children entering the Preschool program must be toilet trained and able to manage clothing and wiping independently.  All accounts must be current to register.  All appropriate forms (including Medical Form, Birth Certificate, and Introduction Form) and fees must be on file in the Day School office before a child is considered registered.  It is mandatory that each child’s Medical Form, (including immunization record) is current, signed by the child’s primary doctor, and in your child’s file by the date of admission. For the safety of our staff, parents, and children, all students attending the Day School must be fully immunized.

Withdrawal Policy

Withdrawal notices must be given in writing and turned in to the Day School office. If the Day School office is closed and notice is sent via mail, the postmarked date will be considered the date of notice given. An email sent to the school director will be accepted as written notice.

Registration fees are non-refundable.

If you withdraw your child from school and wish to return at a later date, you must observe the standard enrollment procedures including paying the registration fee and last month’s tuition.

June 1 is the deadline in order to receive the prepaid May’s tuition refund.

If you find it necessary to withdraw your child between June 2 and October 1, you will forfeit your prepaid May’s tuition.

After October 1, we must have a 2-week notice of withdrawal for you to receive the May’s tuition refund.

If you find it necessary to withdraw your child after April 1, May’s tuition will not be refundable.

Methodist Day School Programs / Fees 2019-2020

CHILDREN’S DAY OUT (CDO):

CLASS TIME: Monday/Friday- 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

  • Ages: 6 months by September 2019 through 4 years (Birth certificate required)
  • Registration Fee: $200 due upon registration (non-refundable). May 2020 tuition is due at time of registration.
  • Monthly Tuition: Monday/Friday $225 (includes supply fees). Due the first CDO of each month.

CLASS TIME: Tuesday/Thursday- 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

  • Ages: 6 months by September 2019 through 2 years (Birth certificate required)
  • Registration Fee: $200 due upon registration (non-refundable). May 2020 tuition is due at time of registration.
  • Monthly Tuition: $250 (includes supply fees). Due the first CDO of each month.

PRE-SCHOOL:

CLASS TIME: Tuesday through Thursday -9:00 AM to 2:00PM (except Wednesday which is 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

  • Ages: 3 and 4 years old as of September 1, 2019 (Birth certificate required)
  • All children must be potty trained and able to manage clothing and wiping independently
  • Registration Fee: $200 due upon registration (non-refundable). May 2020 tuition is due at time of registration.
  • Monthly Tuition: $325 (includes supply fees & in-house programs). Due the first school day of each month.

BRIDGE:

CLASS TIME: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (except Wednesday which is 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

  • Ages: 5 years old as of September 1, 2019 (Birth certificate required)
  • Registration Fee:  $200 due upon registration (non-refundable). May 2020 tuition is due at the time of registration.
  • Monthly tuition: $525.00 (includes supply fees & in-house programs). Due the first school day of each month.

Parent Participation

Volunteer Opportunities

Office Support Staff: Smiling faces are needed to help file papers, make labels, make copies, answer the phones and greet those entering the Day School.

Classroom Helpers will assist preschool children in center time (“Open Door”), host parties, and provide basic classroom support as needed by teaching staff.

Teacher Appreciation: Our staff is the greatest and we love to organize breakfasts, lunches, and other treats to say”thanks” for their work with the children.

“Able Bodied Helpers” may find themselves assisting with picture days, petting zoo, walking children to class during the first days, or painting t-shirts!

Take Home Projects are available for those who have kid or work obligations that prevent them from coming to the Day School.

Do you play the guitar, quilt, scuba-dive? Bring your gear and talk to the kids about it!

Volunteering

Chick-Fil-A Spirit Event

Stop by, pick up a meal and the Methodist Day School benefits by your dining out at Chick-fil-A Spirit Events. Tell the cashier that you are representing the Methodist Day School, request your receipt and place it in the designated box on the counter. 10% of the “Day School” sales will be awarded to our school!

Mission Opportunities

During each school year, the Methodist Day School provides the following mission opportunities for the children:

Fall “Food Train” – a food drive that benefits the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

Toy Drive – held each December. Children present gifts that are donated to a local Title 1 elementary school.

Pet Fair – In conjunction with our annual “Pet Fair” (when our pets come to school!), children are encouraged to bring pet food and supplies which are donated to an animal shelter in our community.

Spring Food Drive – focuses on “kid-friendly” summertime foods such as peanut butter, macaroni and cheese and boxed juice. Food items are donated to the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION

-PLEASE READ CAREFULLY-

Next year will be the Day School’s 47th year of ministry and we are so glad you are considering being a part of our school.

Children will be registered on a first come, first served basisTHERE ARE ENOUGH SPACES IN OUR PROGRAM TO RE-ENROLL CURRENTLY ENROLLED CHILDREN; HOWEVER, FAMILIES MIGHT NOT GET THEIR FIRST CHOICE OF DAYS AND MAY NEED TO GO ON THE WAITING LIST FOR THEIR FIRST PREFERENCE. There are a limited number of spaces available in our Bridge Program.

Please be sure to carefully read the Registration Procedures and let the Administrative Office know if you need clarification on any of the procedures.

The Day School’s waiting list policy considers many factors when determining who will move from a waiting list to a classroom spot. The order of children on a class waiting list does not necessarily guarantee classroom placement. Church membership, having a sibling who is a preschooler, having a sibling who is enrolled in the program, current enrollment in the program, or being an alumni family of the school are examples of other factors considered in prioritizing who will move to a classroom spot. These particular considerations are not exhaustive and other factors may be considered and are left to the discretion of the Day School Administrative Staff. A waiting list for a particular class will not be started until the class is full. The waiting list is good only for the current school year and does not transfer into another year.

All fees are approved by the Methodist Day School Board.

Tuition is based on the number of school days in the entire school year for each program (CDO Monday/Friday & CDO Tuesday/Thursday, Preschool, and Bridge).

The year’s total tuition is divided by 9 months to determine monthly payment.

Registration fee will be $200 per child and May 2020 tuition must be paid when registering.

Tuition is payable by the year, semester, or month and is due on or before the first school day of each month.

School closings/holidays are pre-calculated in the tuition rates and there are no credits given for children’s absences or unscheduled school closings. Registration fee and May 2020 tuition will be paid when returning registration forms.

ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE CURRENT FOR A CHILD TO REGISTER FOR THE NEXT SCHOOL YEAR (including late fees).

To keep tuition rates reasonable, families will have the opportunity to provide consumable donations to the school such as tissue, paper towels, baby wipes, batteries, etc. Be on the lookout for more information in the Fall!

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES 

Currently enrolled families may pick up registration forms from the Day School office beginning January 28 in the morning AFTER drop-off to complete at their convenience. Receiving the form DOES NOT GUARANTEE enrollment in a particular class. THERE ARE ENOUGH SPACES IN OUR PROGRAM TO RE-ENROLL CURRENTLY ENROLLED CHILDREN IN EITHER PRESCHOOL OR CDO. Families may not get their first choice of days and may need to go on the waiting list for their first preference. There are a limited number of spaces available in our Bridge class. The Day School administration reserves the right to limit families adding extra days for the upcoming school year until all currently enrolled children have been placed in a class. WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE TEACHER REQUESTS IN THE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM.

Please stop by the Day School desk if you have any questions or desire clarification on any of the following procedures. Families must observe the following schedule when returning their registration form. Families will be accommodated on a first come, first serve basis based on the following schedule:

REGISTRATION Day 1 (February 11):

8:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (Enter at Bell Tower door-Murphy Rd.)

All currently enrolled children enrolling in BridgePreschool and their currently enrolled siblings for Children’s Day Out. Preschoolers can also register for the M/F CDO. CDO can register for 2 or 4 days.

*Registration forms will be accepted for siblings of Preschoolers and Bridge who are new to the program, but they will not be added to the class roster until registration for all currently enrolled children is complete (after 9:30 a.m. on Day 2, February 12). T/Th CDO priority will be given to siblings of Preschoolers since siblings of Bridge can attend on M/F or T/Th. If space is not available in the CDO programs, these siblings will be placed on a waiting list. 

Currently enrolled church members (child’s parent or legal guardian) with new siblings entering the program will be given priority over currently enrolled non-church members with new siblings entering the program.Church members must be on the church roll by December 1 of the previous year.

REGISTRATION Day 2 (February 12):

8:00 a.m.–9:30 a.m. (Enter at Bell Tower door-Murphy Rd.)

All currently enrolled CDO children enrolling in the CHILDREN’S DAY OUT program only. CDO can register for 2 or 4 days.

Registration forms will be accepted for siblings new to the program, but they will not be added to the class roster until after 9:30 a.m. on Day 2, February 12). If space is not available, these siblings will be placed on a waiting list. 

Currently enrolled church members (child’s parent or legal guardian) with new siblings entering the program will be given priority over currently enrolled non-church members with new siblings entering the program. Church members must be on the church roll by December 1 of the previous year. 

10:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. (Enter at Bell Tower door-Murphy Rd.)

CHURCH MEMBERS (child’s parent or legal guardian) who are new to the program as space permits.

ALUMNI FAMILIES enrolling in any classes as space permits. Alumni families are those who have previously had children in the program at any time in the past and have left or will be leaving the Day School and are enrolling children new to the program.

REGISTRATION Day 3 (February 19):

8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. (Enter at Bell Tower door-Murphy Rd.)

Public registration as space permits. Forms will be available at registration.

Employment Opportunities

The Methodist Day School is currently accepting applications for permanent and substitute teachers and caregivers to work with children ages 6 months through 5 years.

While prior experience with young children is desirable, it is not necessary. Our current staff members have diverse vocational backgrounds ranging from business, nursing, and social work as well as education. The one thing we all share is a love for children and the desire to be in ministry for the sake of those children. This is a ministry of First United Methodist Church Missouri City and staff members are professing Christians. Fluency in English is required for these positions. All other training will be provided.

Hours of employment are 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM and we observe the FBISD school closings calendar. This is a great part-time opportunity for moms who want to work while their kids are in school or anyone who desires meaningful, part-time employment.

Prospective employees must complete an employment application and affidavit prior to being considered for a job position. The affidavit can be notarized when employment application is delivered. You will be asked to provide a photo id and social security card.
