Jim was born and raised in a little town just outside of St. Louis, MO where he went to Washington High School. He met his wife Elena in their church youth group and they were married in 1992. The Calverts moved to the Houston area in 2005 to be closer to family and have been members of FUMCMC since 2014.

Jim graduated from Missouri Baptist University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Church Music. He is currently attending Perkins School of Theology at SMU pursuing a Master of Divinity and is seeking to be ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. He and his wife have four children; Lyric, Levi, Lennon, and Legend.

In his off time, Jim enjoys reading, writing, traveling, watching movies, listening to music, and playing the drums. His favorite book is The Time Traveler’s Wife, and his favorite band is The Brilliance.
