The H.O.M.E Project is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization based in Ft. Bend County, Texas committed to making a difference in the lives of our clients. Local United Methodist Churches in Ft. Bend County gather for a workday, repairing homes around the county.
H.O.M.E. Project clients are residents of Ft. Bend County who are having financial difficulties, senior citizens on fixed incomes or just those who have no means of fixing their homes. This is a way of improving the quality of life for those who can not help themselves. All the work done is a labor of love with no cost to the homeowner. The sites are selected from referrals by social service agencies.
The first work day in 1995 involved 3 Methodist churches, 30 volunteers and 6 project sites. Since that time we have repaired over 220 sites and spent over $30,000 on materials. The typical annual event involves six to nine churches, 180 to 250 volunteers working on 20 to 25 homes.
