The poet, W.S. Merwin wrote “Your absence goes through me like a thread through a needle. Everything I do is stitched with its color”. His words provide a powerful image for what it is like to grieve and capture the ongoing hurt we feel when someone we love dies. Finding a way to reinvest in life after the death of a loved one is excruciatingly painful, and the holidays only seem to add to our sense of loss. During such difficult times, the journey that each of us must take is unique, but there are ways to channel grief and navigate its lonely time and space.
FUMC will be offering a grief support group focused on examination of grief processes and will include strategies for regaining a sense of hope and wholeness. Discovering Grace in Grief will meet on Tuesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 in upstairs in room 251 beginning November 7 and concluding December 19. Martha Hanson and Debbie Hartgraves will lead the group.
